About me
Hey there! I’m Vanllem, a Canadian artist in my 30s. I’ve been drawing on and off for most of my life. Art has always been part of my world, but in the recent years, I realized it’s not just something I do, it’s something I need! Creating gives me energy, purpose, and joy. It’s my main side quest!
I work with a mix of traditional and digital mediums, depending on what I’m creating. For traditional art, I love filling up my sketchbooks with markers, colored pencils, acrylic markers, etc. I’m just starting to explore watercolor techniques, and it’s been such a fun challenge. I mostly draw people and portraits, but in recent years I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone and experimenting with animals, landscapes, fruits..you name it. I love learning new things and discovering what else I can do with my art.
I also enjoy digital art! I had been mainly a digital artist for the last decade but in the recent years, especially since the rise of AI I reconnected with pen on paper. I mostly use digital art to make merch these days. I love a healthy dose of everything 🙂
I share my creative process on my YouTube channel, including sketchbook tours, behind the scene videos and more. Also if you’d like to support my work or grab a little something for yourself, feel free to check out my Etsy shop!
Like many artists, I spent years caught in the social media loop, trying to keep up, getting lost in the noise, and feeling disconnected from my community. So I decided to build this blog. It’s my cozy corner of the internet where I can share my art and thoughts freely, without chasing algorithms or trends. If you’re here, it probably means something I made spoke to you and that means the world to me! ♡
Thank you for being here and I hope you come again ♡
